Amy Baker

Production Designer 

Amy Baker is an Australian artist and production designer working across film and television. After graduating with an honour’s degree in painting and sculpture, she embarked on a career in production design as part of her art practice.

Amy won the 2024 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Award for Best Production Design in Film for her breathtaking work on the critically acclaimed feature, The New Boy. The film had its world premiere at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, directed by Camera d’Or alumni and revered film maker Warwick Thornton, who garnered the prestigious Cameraimage Golden Frog and the American Society of Cinematography’s Spotlight Award for his cinematography. Cate Blanchett’s company Dirty Films co-produced the project, and she stars alongside astonishing newcomer Aswan Reid. Amy’s other feature credits include the Australian rom-com Top End Wedding (dir. Wayne Blair/ Goalpost Pictures/Kojo Entertainment, 2019) and the 2017 horror film Rabbit (dir. Luke Shanahan/ Longshot).

Amy again worked with Thornton on the eight-part vampire series Firebite (co-directed by Brendan Fletcher) for the launch of AMC+ with See-Saw Pictures, seeing her nominated for an AACTA award for Best Production Design in Television. Amy’s other television credits include: The Unusual Suspects (Aquarius Films/SBS, 2021); The Hunting (Closer Productions/SBS, 2019); F*%#Ing Adelaide (Closer Productions/ABC, 2017); and Season 1 of The Other Guy (Aquarius Films/Stan, 2017).

Most recently, Amy’s work can be seen on the ABC in Plum (2024, Roadshow Rough Diamond/ Modern Convict Films), which was directed by another of her frequent collaborators, Wayne Blair, and stars Brendan Cowell. She also recently has wrapped on the psychological horror series Playing Gracie Darling for Curio Pictures and Paramount+.
