Emma Freeman Wins Best Director for Stateless at 2020 ADG Awards

Cameron’s wishes to congratulate Emma Freeman, who received the Award for Best Direction of a TV or SVOD Mini-Series for Stateless: Episode 3 at the 2020 Australian Director’s Guild Awards.

The ADG Awards recognise excellence in the craft and art of directing, as well as honouring individual contributions by Australian screen directors to the screen industry. The Awards are the only opportunity for Australian directors and their work to be acknowledged by their directing peers.

The Awards were notable for the number of female directors to win ADG Awards – 10 of the 19 Awards were won by women, a reflection of the industry’s move towards gender parity.

Stateless received international praise, with Forbes Magazine stating ‘What Stateless does so eloquently is showcase how a broken immigration system impacts everyone on both sides of the fence. Show creators Tony Ayers, Elise McCredie and Cate Blanchett brought to life the grim realities of the vulnerable souls lost in a system meant to protect those in need.’

Stateless is currently streaming on ABC iView.
