Liz Doran is a Sydney-based writer for film and television.
Liz was the co-creator, script producer and head writer on the International Emmy nominated ABC series Ready for This. She script produced and wrote on all four seasons of ABC’s widely lauded Please Like Me, winning an AWGIE for her ‘Portuguese Tart’ script in season 1 and has recently been nominated for a NSW Premier's Award for her season 4 episode 'Burrito Bowl' along with her co-writers Josh Thomas and Thomas Ward . She has also written on series 1 and 2 Essential Media’s Doctor Doctor and part 1 of Channel 7’s 2-part miniseries Molly based on the life of Molly Meldrum.
Her other credits include episodes on ABC’s Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries, Rescue Special Ops, The Secret Life of Us, Carla Cametti PD, McLeod’s Daughters and the Emmy Award winning, BAFTA nominated UK drama series Sugar Rush. Liz was the series story editor and writer for Dance Academy season 1-3, a 26 part teen drama for the ABC.
Liz has worked as a script editor on projects across animation, television and film, including The Square with producer Louise Smith, director Nash Edgerton and co-writers Joel Edgerton and Matthew Dabner, released in Australia and the US.
Liz is currently writing 2 feature films; one for producer Louise Smith, and the other for Renata Gombac. For television, she’s writing an episode for a new Easy Tiger drama.
