Paul Oliver was the co-creator of the 8x1 hour drama series titled Old School for Matchbox and the ABC, for which he also wrote and directed episodes. The series was based on his 50-minute crime drama Lennie Cahill Shoots Through, which was broadcast on SBS in 2004 and won an AFI Award, AWGIE Award and an ATOM Award. He has recently written for The Dr Blake Mysteries (Series 4) for December Media.
He has written and directed a number of short films that have screened at national and international festivals, including Beer and Chocolate (Edinburgh Film Festival, Leeds Film Festival) and Freeze (St Kilda, Brisbane Film Festival, Palm Springs and BBC Shorts). Paul also wrote, directed and co-produced a one-hour documentary for ABC, The Fibros and the Silvertails, which screened at Sydney Film Festival and won an AWGIE Award.
Paul is currently developing a number of feature films including the heist film Blood Bank and the environmental thriller Mercury with producer Philippa Campey at Film Camp. Paul also has several TV drama projects in development, including The Rocks with December Films, Returned Soldiers and Sexual Misdemeanours.
