Tamara Asmar is a highly sought-after screenwriter, having worked on a diverse range of projects over the course of her career, amassing credits in a variety of genres, formats, and roles. 

 Most recently, Tamara script produced and wrote on series one of NCIS: Sydney (Paramount +/CBS, Channel Ten) and prior to that completed writing on and script producing series two of the award-winning Love Me (a Binge/Foxtel original series for Warner Bros. International Television and Wildflower Films). She also wrote for Bunya Entertainment and Heiress Film’s In Limbo (SBS, dir. Trent O'Donnell), and for Lingo Pictures’ anthology Erotic Stories (SBS, dir. Madeleine Gottlieb) which will screen on SBS on Demand in late 2023.

 Prior to this Tamara wrote the pilot episode for the SBS and Lingo Pictures limited drama series On the Ropes (dir. Shannon Murphy, 2018). She received an AWGIE Award nomination for Best Writing in a Mini-Series and was shortlisted in the NSW Premier Awards for the Betty Roland Scriptwriting Award. On the Ropes was also nominated for Best Australian Television Drama at the 2019 AACTA Awards. Tamara also wrote across four seasons of Channel Nine and Easy Tiger’s hugely popular series, Doctor Doctor (AKA The Heart Guy).

 Tamara was script editor on Cleverman 2 (2016) for Goalpost Productions, she participated in Playmaker Media’s Scribe (2013) showrunner program and also worked with Playmaker as a script editor and writer on Love Child 2 (2015).  She has written extensively for Screentime on Crownies (2011) and Tricky Business (2012). Her short film, Census (2010), was selected for the Flickerfest International Film Festival in 2013.

Tamara wrote three episodes of the live-action children’s series Sam Fox: Extreme Adventures (SLR/Channel 10, 2014), co-wrote the pilot for another SLR live-action children’s series, The Alice-Miranda Mysteries as well as two episodes of Beyond Productions’ animated children’s series, Beat Bugs (2016) for Netflix.

Tamara is currently in development on a range of projects, writing episodes for Jungle Entertainment, Artis Pictures in the UK, and is developing her own projects with two esteemed local production companies.

A graduate of the esteemed NIDA Playwrights’ Studio, Tamara wrote the play Sabur (2003) while there. She has had two plays produced for the Old Fitzroy Theatre, Ninja (2005) and Belle’s Line (2008), along with other short plays Class (2009) for the 24 Hour Play Generator, Griffin Theatre and Queen of the Night (2009) for Brand Spanking New (New Theatre). She was also shortlisted for the Philip Parsons Playwright’s Award for her play submission Radio Pictures for Company B Belvoir in 2009.
