Check Out Patricia Cornelius's 'Love' and 'Shit' at fortyfivedownstairs

Patricia Cornelius’s hit plays Love and Shit are being performed in a double bill at fortyfivedownstairs in Melbourne.

Love is an unapologetic exploration of love and addiction. Tanya, Annie and Lorenzo are from the bottom of the heap. They’ve been abused, they’re abusive, and they’re difficult to like, let alone love, but it’s love in all its distorted and mutated forms that holds them together.

While Shit is the story of Billy, Bobby and Sam. These girls don’t believe in anything. They’re mean, foul-mouthed, downtrodden, hard-bitten, utterly damaged and the kind of women most would see on the street and decide to walk the other way. They’re neither salt of the earth nor sexy. They love no one and no one loves them. They believe the world is shit, that their lives are shit, that they are shit.

Soon after these dates Shit is travelling to Venice. Writer/director team Patricia Cornelius and Susie Dee are the first Australian artists ever to be invited to the Teatro Biennale di Venezia in 2019. See their work before they present at 47th International Festival of Theatre.

Performances of Love start tonight and end on the 9th of June, while performances of Shit begin on the 29th of May, also closing on the 9th of June. You can purchase tickets here.
