Congratulations to Cameron’s clients Emma Freeman, Earle Drenser, and Julie-Anne De Ruvo on the release of Season 2 of The Newsreader.

The second season of The Newsreader continues a year later from the events of season one, with Helen and Dale now established as ‘The Golden Couple of News’. As 1987 comes along, global stocks will rise and fall, Australia will prepare to celebrate its Bicentennial year, and Helen and Dale grapple with who they really want to be in life – and whether that path can be together. The Guardian’s Luke Buckmaster wrote in his glowing four-star review of The Newsreader that, “Season two raises the stakes and ups the ante. The plotting is pointier, the performances more lived in, the conversations about media issues more pronounced and integrated.”

Emma Freeman executive produced the season as well as directing all six episodes, alongside DOP Earle Dresner who shot the entire season, with Julie-Anne De Ruvo editing episodes 1, 3, and 5.

Season two starts Anna Torv and Sam Reid, alongside William McInnes, Robert Taylor, Michelle Lim Davidson, Stephen Peacocke, Chai Hansen, Chum Ehelepola, and Marg Downey. It is produced by Werner Film Productions and the ABC.

Season 2 is available to watch with episodes released Sundays 8:30pm on ABC iview and ABC TV.
