Director Margaret Thanos joins the Agency!
Margaret Thanos is a Cypriot-Australian director, and the Andrew Cameron Fellow (artist in residence) at Belvoir Street Theatre.
Margaret’s directing credits include the critically acclaimed sell-out seasons of I Hate People; Or Timon of Athens (Sport for Jove), Posh (The Old Fitz) and Furious Mattress (25A/Legit Theatre Co.), Not Now, Not Ever: A Parliament of Women (25A), A Very Expensive Poison (New Theatre), Labyrinth (Dream Plane Productions) and A Grain of Sand (KXT).
She also has assistant directing credits on August: Osage County, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Well Behaved Women (Belvoir), Benefactors, Mr Bailey’s Minder (Ensemble), This Genuine Moment (Old 505), Animal Farm (New Theatre), Originate Project (Q Theatre), The Linden Solution (Ratcatch) and The Cherry Orchard (Chippen St).
Margaret is also an activist, with a particular focus on gender equality and climate awareness. She is one of Plan International's Advocates and has done extensive interviews and public appearances. Margaret is the founder of arts-activism company Queen Hades Productions.
Coming up in 2025 Margaret is directing a remount of I Hate People; or Timon of Athens at the Seymour Centre and a brand-new production of Equus by Peter Shaffer for Sport for Jove.
Her current production of Posh has been extended to May 17 at The Old Fitz.
