MIFF Announces 2025 Program
The Melbourne International Film Festival’s 2025 program is now available to view, and book if you are a member. In its 73rd year, MIFF continues to showcase bold, diverse and adventurous films for audiences, including four local features worked on by our clients.
One More Shot will have its Australian Premiere at the festival, before moving to a wider theatrical and streaming release. It follows Millie (Emily Browning), who discovers on New Year’s Eve 1999 that she has brought a bottle of time travelling tequila to her friend’s party. The Stan original film was shot by Simon Ozolins and edited by Julie-Anne De Ruvo.
Went Up the Hill will play at one last local festival before its US release on Aug 15th, followed by its Australian theatrical run in September. The film centres on Jack who journeys to New Zealand for the funeral of his mother, who he was separated from as a child, but finds her widow, Jill, has no recollection of inviting him. The feature was edited by Dany Cooper.
Alphabet Lane starring Tilda Cobham-Hervey and Nicholas Denton, will have its World Premiere. Mark Bradshaw composed the score, which plays over an isolated couple trying to reinvigorate their relationship with parallel imaginary correspondences. It is the first feature directed by James Litchfield and is an exploration of the private universes’ lovers create for themselves.
Surviving Malka Leifer, will also be having its World Premiere at the festival, marking the second documentary helmed by Adam Kamien. The film goes inside the story of a mass struggle for justice – crossing years and international boarders – within Melbourne’s Jewish community. Filmed over five years, the documentary features firsthand testimonies from the sisters who first brought the sexual abuse allegations to light.
Zombucha! is a hilarious and oddly relateable horror-comedy from writer Emma Leonard, who also plays Maddie. Ryan O’Kane stars opposite as Leo. The two are a couple hoping to strike it rich with a kombucha empire after the loss of both their jobs, however after adding some stolen herbs, their beverage turns sentient and deadly. It will be the features World Premiere.
Documentary Never Get Busted! will be having its Australian Premiere at MIFF. Directed by Stephen McCallum, the film follows Barry Cooper, previously a Texan narcotics officer now turned decriminalisation activist, who tries his best to help the people he used to arrest.
All films will be available to watch at various cinemas across Melbourne, with general-public tickets going on sale Tuesday 15th July at 10am AEST. Click here to browse the full program.
